Susan started Capitol Sales Recruiting as a result of her career in technology and sales.  Her career started in software and systems development working for corporations such as IBM, Martin Marietta and GTE.  She later transitioned over to a successful sales career selling software and services to government clients for companies such as Compuware, SAP and Right Now Technologies.  She has extensive sales experience with a track record growing new businesses, consistently exceeding quotas and receiving multiple awards and certifications.  Susan also volunteers with several local non-profits and business organizations including fundraising and mentoring students in career development.

Paula Rebich Scarfone is director of marketing and recruiting at Capitol Sales Recruiting and joined the firm in April 2021. Throughout her more than 25-year career as a marketing and communications expert, she has initiated and overseen strategic communication and marketing plans and efforts including branding, international media relations, advertising, and website development. Her diverse background includes high tech, corporate, higher education, and nonprofit. Prior to joining Capitol Sales Recruiting, she was senior marketing coordinator at Kimley-Horn in Baltimore; director of marketing at Oasis Design Group in Baltimore; media relations manager at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland; public relations manager at MicroProse Software in Hunt Valley, Maryland; and an editorial production assistant at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Reston, Virginia.

She earned a master of science in environmental biology at Hood College, Frederick, Maryland, in 2002, where she also completed graduate courses in website design. She earned a bachelor of science in journalism with a major in public relations and a minor in English and a bachelor of arts in liberal arts, both at West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, in 1991.

Julie Peatt Cassaday joined Capitol Sales Recruiting in December 2021. Julie spent most of her adult life in the sales world and brings an enhanced level of understanding to the work she does now. In addition to working in sales, she owned her own business and worked for a non-profit as a development manager. Leah Athey joined our team in October of 2021. Prior to working with Capitol Sales Recruiting, she spent 8 years working independently as a freelancer. During this time she served as an office manager for three different businesses, as a virtual assistant, and multiple years in sales roles.
